Weight Loss and Health Tips-Part VII:Powerful Legumes

We live in a society where eating has become more of a pleasure than real need.Maintaining a healthy body weight has become a problematic task. When starting out a diet, the first thing we should take care is our nutrition. If we fix this, everything will fall into place sooner or later.
In this weight loss and health tips, i will speak about a very nutritional food;the legumes.Legumes are seeds, or pods of leguminous plants. They are known since antiquity, and are among the most nutritious natural foods. There are currently 600 types of legumes, and 13,000 varieties. Some of the most popular are:soya beans, black beans, kidney beans, lentils, chick peas, black eye beans, red beans, peas.Legumes are low in calories, have 0 cholesterol, and are very inexpensive, making them an ideal part of a healthy diet.
All legumes are rich in essential nutrients including; protein, fiber, fatty acids, antioxidants, iron, potassium,b vitamins, folic acid. They are good substitutes to animal protein.Soya beans are the legumes with the most protein. Thanks to the protein, legumes can help repair cells from free radical damage, build muscle, burn fat, and assist digestion in the body.
A meal with legumes will fill you fast, and for longer without the insulin levels go up, because they contain a lot of fibre. According to recent studies, people who consume often legumes have low risk to develop a heart disease, and colon cancer.Oher studies have shown that legumes have strong anti-aging elements. You can buy them raw, frozen, or in cans.Preparation and cooking methods vary, but usual cooking time is between 30 to 60 minutes. Some of them, you might need to soak them into the water for a few hours before cooking. If you choose to eat them straight from the can, rinse them once to get rid of the extra sodium. You can make many different meals all nutritious and delicious; salads, dips, soups, and stews.
Legumes have a bad reputation because of the gasses they produce, the reason for that, maybe is the lack of enzymes in the digestive system, to avoid these problems, start introducing them into your diet slowly, and in moderate portions, or pick a legume that is not as gas producing as others, i.e black eye beans;and don’t forget to drink lots of water.

Legumes are an optimal choice for any diet and its worth adding them into your weekly foods. For more information about health and weight loss, with many free weight loss tips and a great weight loss solution, visit this website: http://www.youandweightloss.com

Eating Healthy Foods in an Unhealthy World

Article by Karan Naidoo

Eating healthy foods is the first, and in many ways the most important step in becoming a healthy person. It’s not a struggle or a hardship. It’s not a moral imperative. It’s not a sign of elitism. It’s the simple reality that what you eat literally becomes you. You metabolize those carrots or that chicken, or that hot fudge Sunday with caramel and extra cool whip, and it becomes more of you one way or the other. Think about that the next time you reach for the bag of pork rinds.

With that in mind, it’s time to take a look at what eating healthy foods entails, exactly. Because there are different standards and different thresholds for what different people consider eating healthy foods.

Take my father-in-law, for example. He’s a doctor, a nephrologist. That means he works on people who have kidney problems, and from that perspective he has about thirty five years of seeing what an unhealthy diet can do to your vital organs. From his first-hand experience then, as well as the experience of his family (a family with a rich history of cancer, heart disease and diabetes) he came to the conclusion that the best thing he could do for his own diet is to cut out foods that have a high fat content.

And that’s it. He’ll snack on gummy bears, or load carbs morning noon and night. As long as he’s not taking in high fat content, he’s content. Of course, he runs six miles a day every day, so he’s in better shape than most.

Me, I have a different approach. I’m not as concerned about fat content, but I’m much, much more concerned about eating stuff that’s processed. Because stuff that’s processed isn’t actually foods; it’s just chemicals combined with a few nutrients (if you’re lucky) in New Jersey. I try not to touch that stuff.

So for me, eating healthy foods means eating fresh foods. If I’m having a salad I’m going to buy from a fruit stand or store that gets its produce locally, rather than getting some bagged salad that’s been shipped halfway around the world. And I’ll use olive oil for a dressing because olive oil actually has some beneficial fats rather than malignant fats.

But there’s more. One of the keys to eating healthy foods is that too much of a good thing is still too much. Portion control and moderation are always important – obviously more so when talking about stuff that’s not good for you, but still when you’re talking about stuff that is good for you. If you’re eating healthy foods, but you’re eating 4000 calories a day of them, chances are you’re not improving your overall health. If you’re putting away about 2000 calories on the other hand, then you’re likely on the right track.

Eat Healthy Food

Article by Audrey J

Since we were children, we have been told to eat healthy food, but the recommendations concerning which foods are the healthiest vary greatly and they seem to have changed over the years. Until recently, the average person knew nothing about the health problems associated with synthetic trans-fatty acids. There have always been the naturalists and the vegans. People sometimes looked at them as if they were some sort of alien being. But, research has proven that many of their beliefs and eating patterns are good choices.Of course, there are some vegetarians that are overweight, particularly the ones that do not exclude dairy products. And, it is still possible to suffer from low nutrient intake, even if you eat a great deal of fruits and vegetables. Over the last four to five decades, food crops have been “bred” to be more attractive and disease resistant. Farmers focused on increasing yields and paid no attention to what was happening to the nutritional content of the foods they were producing. Research has proven that it is getting even harder to get all of the nutrients that the human body needs to thrive, even if you eat healthy food. So, choosing the foods mentioned here and in some of my other articles is a good idea. But, you are still likely to benefit from a good all-natural multi-nutritional supplement. Why is natural important? Petrochemicals (byproducts of the petroleum industry) are used to create synthetic vitamins. That’s how they can be produced so cheaply. But, some petrochemicals are known carcinogens; they cause cancer. It is hard to believe that molecules derived from the same source could either be good or bad for your health, depending on the way the scientists chain them together. If you want to eat healthy food, you will avoid artificial preservatives, colors and flavorings. Many of those things are derived from petrochemicals, too. Research has proven that attention deficit disorders, autism, psoriasis, irritable bowel and other conditions benefit from a diet that excludes artificial “anything”.The less processing the better it seems. Processed and packaged foods are more likely to contain added calories and fat. They are also more likely to contain artificial additives. Plus, they are usually very low in nutritional value. If you have been thinking about buying some of those frozen dinners that are supposed to help you lose weight and be healthier, don’t waste your money. You can eat healthy food, easily. It doesn’t take that much time and it costs a lot less than buying convenience foods. Use your freezer compartment for storing extra chicken breasts or freeze your own fresh fruits and vegetables. Make stews and soups over the weekend if you are pressed for time during the week. Research has shown that the societies with the least amount of heart disease and cancer, as well as those that live the longest healthiest lives, are those that eat healthy food. If you have problems controlling your weight, learn how to properly combine those good foods and stop starving yourself. You’ll feel better and probably live longer, too.
